The immune system contains nonspecific and specific components; which is, some constituents act without exact recognition of the target, anothers have exquisite specificity. Regulation of the immune response and maintenance of tolerance to self are vital to the health of the animal. To properly compute or control immune function, knowledge of the fundamental components of the normal immune system is necessary.
