Ig M:

Ig M is the major immunoglobulin generated early in main immune response. It is existed on the surface of all uncommitted B lymphocytes. IgM is a pentamer and the valency is 10. It is present mostly in blood. It is often related with the immune response to Antigenically complex, blood borne infectious agents. Ig M is the most proficient immunoglobulin in agglutination, complement fixation and other antigen antibody reactions. This is a potent activator of classical pathway of complement. This antibody doesn’t cross placenta. It plays a significant role in the defense against viral and bacterial diseases.
