Bluetooth

Introduction to Bluetooth:

An open wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks (PANs) with high levels of security is termed as Bluetooth. It is created through telecoms vendor Ericsson in the year 1994; it was initially conceived like a wireless alternative to RS-232 data cables. Bluetooth can connect various devices, conquering problems of synchronization. Nowadays Bluetooth is managed through the Bluetooth Special Interest Group.

The term Bluetooth is an anglicized edition of Danish Blatand, the epithet of the 10thcentury king Harald I of Denmark who united dissonant Danish tribes into a kingdom. The suggestion is that Bluetooth does similar with communications protocols, uniting them into one common standard.

Bluetooth employs a radio technology known as frequency-hopping spread spectrum that chops up the data being sent and sends chunks of it on up to 79 bands of 1MHz width in the range 2402-2480 MHz. This is in the worldwide unlicensed Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) 2.4 GHz short- range radio frequency band.

Bluetooth is a protocol that is packet-based with a master-slave structure. One master might communicate with equal to 7 slaves in a piconet; every devices share the clock of the master. In the easy case of single-slot packets the master sends in even slots and receives in odd slots; the slave, vice versa, receives in even slots and sends in odd slots. But in every case the slave transmits in odd slots and the master transmits in even slots.

Bluetooth gives a secure method to connect and exchange information among devices like mobile phones, faxes, personal computers, telephone, laptops, printers, digital cameras, Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers, and video game consoles.
