Since its humble starting, art has always been a result of man's emotional and intellectual link with the world. Ancient art period covers 30,000 BC (the Old Stone Age) to approximately around the fall of the Roman Empire. Both Western(including Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece & Rome, among others) and non-western (China, Japan, North America, etc.) civilizations are included in ancient art period. As history dictates, Ancient Art got mostly its support from the several sectors of the society especially from the Aristocrats and the Church. Even the governments in existence at the time had their say. Depth and Perspective of what was made was not exists in ancient art.

Ancient art refers to the several types of art that generated by the advanced cultures of ancient societies along with some form of writing, like those of ancient China, Egypt, Persia, Israel, Mesopotamia, Greece & Rome. Normally the art of pre-literate societies is referred to as Prehistoric art and is not covered here. Basically, ancient art concerns the kinds of art created throughout the ancient societies. In this, the term "ancient" refers to the earliest recording of man's history right down to the middle Ages. Modern Art vs. Ancient Art

Modern & ancient art are two classifications of art and extremely loosely, human history. It started in the 19th century & covers two World Wars.

3. Modern art is less formal and more expressive than ancient art. It questions or discards the traditional means, treatment or mindset of producing art. Modern art reflects artists’ expressions & perspectives.  Conversely, ancient art was impersonal & conformed to a certain society or society wholly.

4. There are ancient art forms that are produced for a certain cause, either for a ceremonial purpose or as a precious piece which later served as an historical artifact. Modern art forms are frequently used as pieces for self-expression.

5. Modern art involved Cubism, Dadaism, surrealism, expressionism, impressionism art nouveau, surrealism, art deco, cubism, pop art and many other art movements. On the contrary, ancient art does not contain art movements.
