Basically, ancient art concerns the kinds of art created throughout the ancient societies. In this, the term "ancient" refers to the earliest recording of man's history right down to the middle Ages. A common denominator along with the works conceived throughout this period is the cause for their creation. Adoration, may it be of a ruler, a deity, or an event, played a part in each society's formation of artistry.

The religious nature of Ancient Egypt permitted for works depicting the Pharaohs, gods & goddesses, all of whom were given divine status.
