Create a great environment for a successful group

Discussion:

"Teams can't function if they can't agree on who is to do what and ensure all members share the workload" (Robbins & Judge, 2017, pg. 320). If I could form my perfect team, what would it look like? I've never really given this much thought since it has never been me creating a team. You don't always know what type of group you will be in. In the past experiences, I have had to work on a team I have found that cohesion is extremely important. Being a good team player contributes to the effectiveness of the team and the project. Work experience is an important factor. I believe the group would be a mix of high to moderate levels of work experience. Although I am always willing to help someone gain work experience, I am not sure that I would have more than one person in my group with little to no experience. Intelligence is another important quality that I believe I would keep at a moderate level for all members. Conscientious employees are extremely important. I would seek members that were all highly conscientious. There must be a level of agreeableness, but there also must be a willingness to look at other aspects. Group members that are willing to come to the table to learn, in my opinion, make a stronger group. Extraversion would be a mix. When working in a group the size of 20, a person will be more likely to feel comfortable with those around her. She won't necessarily become an extrovert but will participate comfortably with the group. And finally, neuroticism or attention to detail is as important as being conscientious is. I would rate this quality high in the group. All together my group would be conscientious of timelines and project requirements, each participant would see the importance of details, be willing to learn and listen, and have some pre-understanding of the project prior to its start. I believe these qualities would create a great environment for a successful group. "You need the right mix of skills and of personalities to ensure the task gets done with the minimum friction and the maximum effectiveness" (Winston, 2018).
