Skin is the main organ of the body forming 8 percent of its net mass and having area between 1.1 to 2.2m2. It is the main interface among the body and the atmosphere and covers the whole surface. Receptors for the sensations like pain, touch, warmth, pressure, cold and vibration senses are too found in the skin.

Circulation via skin serves two main functions nutrition and conduction of heat to the atmosphere.
