Proliferative phase

The follicular phase or Proliferative phase (5th day - 14th day):

The follicular stage is initiated by the discharge of follicle stimulating hormone (i.e., FSH) from the anterior pituitary gland. During this stage, a primary follicle starts to enlarge. While it is growing, the follicles secrete oestrogen and smaller amounts of progesterone into the blood. Beneath the effects of oestrogen from the developing follicle, the endometrium begins regenerating from the basal portion. Deeper portions of the glands begin proliferating. By day 14, graffian follicle has matured and pushed up against the ovary surface. The secretion of FSH finishes at the end of follicular stage.
