Isolation of Noble Gases:

The noble gases are isolated from air by eliminating oxygen and nitrogen from air and are free from carbon-dioxide, water vapor, dust particles, and so on. This can be accomplished by either chemical or physical methods. In the chemical technique, the unwanted gases are eliminated by means of compound formation whereas in the physical technique, these are eliminated by the fractional evaporation of liquid air.

Chemical Method:

The primary step in this technique is to isolate the noble gases mixed altogether, from the atmosphere by passing frequent electric sparks in air therefore as to eliminate nitrogen and oxygen as nitrogen dioxide,

N2 + 2O2 → 2NO2

The second step is to separate the different constituents from one another taking benefit of the fact that they can be adsorbed on activated charcoal at various temperatures.
