TV Principle

Introduction to Black-White TV Principle and Color TV Principle

According to the devices employed the television receivers can be categorized into three types.

1) Valve type receivers

2) Solid state receivers

3) Hybrid type receivers

VALVE TYPE TELEVISION RECEIVERS

Pentode, Diode and triode valves are employed in this type of TV receivers. 140 to 300 Volts power supply is needed for its application. Because it is bulky and emissions of massive heat, the next generation of TV receivers by using semiconductors are developed.

SOLID STATE TELEVISION RECEIVERS

Solid state receivers were made of semiconductor diodes, transistors and ICs apart from picture tube. 12V to 110V power supply is needed for the operation.

HYBRID TYPE TELEVISION RECEIVER

In Hybrid type receivers the deflection circuits produces the power tubes, when the other circuits use transistor and ICs. Two dc sources; 140 to 300V for tubes, 12 to 40V for transistors are needed.
