Introduction to Immersion Water Heaters:

An immersion water heater is an extremely simple appliance that heats a bucket of water within 10 to 15 minutes. It contains a heating coil has a chord identical to an electric iron as displayed in the below diagram.

Construction: The major parts are

i) heating element and

ii) outer frame

Heating element:

The heating element is build up of Nichrome wire that generates heat when giving electric supply. The melting point of it is about 4200oC. The coil type heating element is generally employed in this heater.

Outer frame:

The outer frame is build up of chromed iron brass pipe where a heating element is located. The pipe's inside wall is coated with magnesium oxide that works as insulation that is why the heating element might not touch the pipe. The outer frame's top portion of is made up of Bakelite insulator. The heating element's ends coils are connected at the points termed as a terminal that is connected to the power chord. The scale is also given to point out the water lever to be maintained.
