Introduction to Composite Video Signal
It contains the following:
A. Video Signal
B. Horizontal Blanking pulses
C. Vertical Blanking pulses
D. Horizontal Synchronizing pulses
E. Vertical Synchronizing pulses
Composite video signal contains camera signal consequent to the wanted picture information, blanking pulses to create the retrace invisible and synchronizing pulses to synchronize the transmitter and receiver scanning. A horizontal synchronizing (sync) pulse is required at the end of every active line period where a vertical sync pulse is needed after every field is scanned. The amplitude of both vertical and horizontal pulse is maintained the same to acquire higher efficiency of picture signal transmission but their duration or width is chosen to be dissimilar for separating them at the receiver. Because sync pulses are required consecutively and not required concurrently with the picture signal, these are transmitted on a time division basis and so form a part of the composite video signal.
