This case is a great example of the complexity facing healthcare administration in deciding how and where to use the precious capital. Do NOT answer the questions in the case, but rather the questions below:
1) Will the ambulatory surgery center recoup their investment within the first 3 years?
2) What assumptions in this case exist, and which, if any are they struggling with?
3) Are there any safety or quality issues in this case that should be considered?
4) What is missing from this analysis? (Hint: last paragraph on page 2) What would you change about the case write up analysis to account for this possibility?
5) If you were in charge of deciding whether to move forward with this project, what would you decide? State the criteria you are using for your decision and apply the lessons from the course materials.
