Problem

Consider a two-component standby with non-identical components arranged in a parallel configuration. Let C1 and C2 be the components. Initially, C1 is the working component and C2 is in the standby mode. The hazard rates are given as follows: λ1= 0.02/month, λ2= 0.05/month and λ2 -= 0.01/month. Compute the design life corresponding to a desired reliability of 0.6.
