Rationale for the research question


Assessment – The assessment of your research project will be based upon the following marking scheme:

Background literature review and referencing (1000 – 1300 words)

(Has a rationale for the research question been established? Is a clear aim been stated? Has a background to the topic been included? Does the material appear to come from a variety of sources, demonstrating a range of research? Has similarities and/or contradictions among previous writers clearly identified? Are the references properly incorporated into the text? Is the reference list set out in an appropriate way?)

Clarity of methodology used to answer the Research Question (500 – 700 words)

(Has the approach to obtaining the relevant information from the case been set out? Has a key research questions been clearly identified? Has a secondary or a primary data collection format (such as shown in the examples) been designed for your case study? Has detail of the case been clearly but concisely described?

Results (3000 – 3500 words)

(Is the material relevant? Has the assignment brief been fully addressed? Is the result presented in a logical way with well-reasoned arguments and a coherent arrangement? Has additional material such as charts, tables &/or diagrams etc been provided to reinforce the text where appropriate? Are such charts properly cross-referenced in to the text? Has the case study been fully analysed and not just extracts from the case? Has the research question been fully evaluated with evidence? Has the evidence been well presented and linked with literature review?)

Conclusion and recommendation (500 words)       

(Does the research project reach a sensible conclusion that takes into account all aspects of the topic? Does the conclusion summarise the main findings from the research? Does the conclusion answer the research question? Is it an original conclusion? Is the conclusion substantiated? Has an original recommendation been provided?)

Presentation:

(Is the document neatly presented, word-processed & with a title sheet, page numbering, paragraph headings, 1½ line spacing etc? Does it have a logical structure like shown in the examples? Is the test free of any

grammatical/spelling/typographical errors?)
