Provide adequate counseling to violent criminal offenders

Problem:

I am really interested to see this semester how the idea of referring a client based on value or ethical differences is covered by a number of different counselors and experts in the field.  In his video, Corey says very emphatically that he does not believe a counselor should ever have to refer a client based on value differences, though I wonder how that stance would hold up today in 2026.

The political landscape should not necessarily have a huge impact on ethics in counseling, though I find it impossible to imagine how it would exist in a bubble.  In the past, I have felt I would not really be able to provide adequate counseling to violent criminal offenders, though that is not a population I intend on working with.  Now, though...it appears that an overwhelming part of the country supports what I deem to be extremely unethical conduct surrounding human life and suffering.  I guess my true anxieties surrounding this are not how a client holds their values, but what my own reaction to them might be.  I fear compromising my ability to remain neutral and keep my own values to myself in the face of someone I see living by unethical standards, and I hope that this course can help me in identifying when those feelings might be coming up in myself.

My question is to reply the post to the student. Need Assignment Help?
