Problem:
A significant social problem in many communities is the affordable housing crisis. This crisis disproportionately affects low-income families, seniors, people with disabilities, and essential workers, leading to increased homelessness, poor health outcomes, and economic instability. This is due to policies that favor luxury development over affordable options and insufficient rent/housing assistance. Another issue is systemic inequality, which affects racial minorities and marginalized groups through discriminatory practices in housing, employment, and justice. These practices limit opportunities and perpetuate cycles of poverty. Those that are facing these issues are too many to describe and is affecting vulnerable adults, people of diverse populations and communities are facing homelessness. Affordable housing is a major problem and the state as well as federal government need to revamp the system so that all are able to own and obtain affordable housing and rent control so families elderly and many others are able to afford to live without fear of losing their homes.
