Hello Bessie
You wrote an interesting post. You highlighted cultural sensitivity well; it caught my attention. One thing you mentioned about being and outsider, and I agree that Iverem could at risk for imposing values. Each country has their own culture, different religion and look at things differently. Iverem perspective may not be wrong, but her culture is not the same. For example, in my religion the husband can have up to 4 wives. Who can say whether it is right or wrong. One approach to cultural sensitivity is understanding cultural relativism. Culture relativism means understanding that every culture has its own beliefs, and no culture is better than another. Cultural relativism suggests that ethics, morals, values, norms beliefs, and behaviors must be understood within the context of the culture from which it arise (Cherry, 2025). One benefit of embracing cultural relativism people can learn to respect and understand different cultural practices. Iverem have find the root cause why parents in Cameroon marry off their daughters at a young age, even though she does not agree with it, she must listen to them side of story of why marriage is allowed at a young age.
