Problem regarding nature versus nurture debate

Problem: Respond to this part of the discussion. Respond in a way that a high school student can understand it. Adding information to the discussion post. The nature versus nurture debate has always fascinated me because I don't believe human development can be explained by genetics or environment alone. Instead, I think both continuously interact to shape development throughout life. From infancy into the second year of life, genetics influence characteristics such as temperament, brain development, and physical growth. Environmental factors including responsive caregiving, nutrition, and early learning experiences, help determine how those genetic potentials are expressed (Berk, 2023). For example, an infant may be genetically predisposed to strong cognitive abilities, but consistent interaction, language exposure, and secure attachment are essential for those abilities to fully develop. Likewise, physical milestones and social-emotional skills are influenced by both biological maturation and supportive relationships. Understanding this interaction emphasizes the importance of providing nurturing, stable environments during early childhood, when the brain is developing rapidly and experiences can have lasting effects on future health, learning, and relationships (Shonkoff & Phillips, 2000).
