Anxiety stemming from the covid-19 pandemic

Problem:

As a student how would you respond to this classmate of yours, include in-text citation and references from 2021 below and ask questions

Anna struggles with anxiety stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, racism against Chinese Americans, worry about her elderly parents, and stress from working as a nurse. Anna uses healthy coping skills such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, journaling, prayer, and walking when she has time. Anna's support resources include her Christian faith, church community, family, and dog. Anna experiences barriers such as working long hours, having limited social support at work, and experiencing racism. Anna's barriers continue to cause her distress to heighten.

One aspect of counseling that I noticed was how Dr. Cervantes normalized Anna's culture. She validated discrimination Chinese Americans face, asked about Anna's sense of responsibility to family, and included Anna's Christian faith into the session. If I were the counselor, I would want to continue to provide person-centered, culturally responsive skills through empathic reflections and open-ended questions. I would say, "It sounds like you've been shouldering so much responsibility that you've been left feeling run down." Followed by "Can you tell me more about what it's been like trying to balance looking after your parents and your patients?" This response lets Anna know that her feelings are valid while also inviting her to explore further. (Hook et al., 2021) culturally responsive EBP. Need Assignment Help?
