Problem:
My target population is the adult diabetic population in central Florida. This is the majority of the population of central Florida. Take a look at Orlando, a major city with a large downtown, that has a population, as of July 2025, of 333, 888, and about 60% of those are adults, ages ranging from over 18 to over 65 (U.S. Department of Commerce, 2025). The patient base of this target population has very different lifestyles and cultural norms spread amongst them. I think that will be a large barrier in finding a one-size-fits-all kind of outreach. In order to overcome this as best as possible, using the full breadth of social media and/or paper pamphlets to hit the target audience. Interconnected barriers in central Florida are the retirement communities, or community homes. Patients within those communities, or homes, often adapt the news via social influence, or they assimilate towards the community norms. Using a full-scale, digital information campaign and printed pamphlet, or QR handout, would almost ensure the target audience hears the message.
