Problem: Participants examined stimuli being displayed on a Samsung Syncmaster 2243, 48cm x 30cm with a resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels and a 60 Hz refresh rate, from approximately a 50cm distance, which presented stimuli in black against a white backdrop. The Superlad forWindows 2.01 software (Cedrus Corporation) regulated the stimulus presentation timings where accuracy and reaction time were measured to the millisecond. This was accomplished by employing a mechanical serial mouse which was formerly stripped of the trackball. All trials featured a prime display followed by a probe display. Each prime display possessed one lowercase word and one distractor word in uppercase. Following that, participants received instructions to recite the lower-case word aloud while ignoring the uppercase distractor. For each probe being displayed, there was one lower-case and one upper-case distractor word. Here the participants were advised to make a lexical decision concerning the lower-case word whilst disregarding the upper-case distractor word. Results showed that whenever the lower-case sequence became a word, participants would use their index finger on their right hand to click on the left button on the response mouse.
