Morbidity is the term used in the epidemiological studies to describe sickness in the human populations. The WHO Expert Committee on the Health Statistics noted in its sixth report that the morbidity could be measured in terms of three units which are given as follows:
* The persons who were ill,
* The illnesses (the periods or spells of illness) that those persons experienced,
* The time duration of these illnesses.
