Problem: The results of this study indicate that conscientiousness is the most reliable predictor of academic achievement, with a large positive correlation with GPA (r = .76, p < .001; Bergold & Steinmayr, 2018; Pagar, 2016). In contrast, extraversion (r = -0.02) and cognitive ability (IQ; r = 0.02) were effectively unrelated to GPA. This pattern supports the notion that effortful self-regulation and dependable work habits play a crucial role in academic success, while sociability offers little advantage in terms of grades. The absence of a correlation between IQ and GPA may be attributed to restricted variability in our sample. IQ scores displayed modest dispersion (M = 101.6, SD = 13.5), and the uneven age distribution may compress the differences in cognitive ability that are typically more pronounced in broader, heterogeneous age groups. Future research could minimize these confounding factors by employing standardized intelligence assessments, verifying academic records, using larger multi-university samples, and exploring whether age, gender, or field of study moderates the relationships among IQ, personality, and academic performance. Concise and modified by a human, mix and match, that means restructure. Need Assignment Help?
