Problem: Respond to classmates discussion question in 80 words. Hello everyone, some criminal characteristics are antisocial behavior, low empathy or remorse and high impulsivity. I decided to pick these in particular because i felt like they were the most odd. I could understand how high impulsivity and low remorse could be criminal characteristics. With high impulse the sudden urge to just grab something you want and maybe can't afford would probably be overwhelming. With low remorse you wouldn't feel bad about stealing because you never felt bad when the thought first occurred. With low empathy you wouldn't be able to understand how something you did made someone else feel and how it may have affected them. I don't however see how antisocial behavior fits into criminal characteristics but I do at the same time. Some people choose not to be around people because of either high anxiety or they simply don't like people. For a criminal antisocial behavior would be perfect to hide whatever criminal behavior that you do. Less people to see how odd or strange something you are doing is.
Identifying criminal characteristics doesn't really count as criminal profiling unless maybe a crime has been committed, the crime scene or scenes studied. That starts the bases of a criminal profile in my opinion. If you don't have a crime you don't have anyone or anything to profile. You are just noticing odd characteristics in a person. I do think using criminal characteristics to help develop a criminal profile can be beneficial. Despite it not being concrete, in the sense that i myself have an alarming amount of criminal characteristics if you go by the definition. However I'm by far a criminal. I just have social anxiety among with other things. Still i would seem odd or uncomfortable at first in social gatherings. I say that to say it's beneficial because it helps narrow down the suspect list and could help whatever case come to a close quickly. Need Assignment Help?
