Describe an object using gestures

Problem:

I was present for a prejudiced comment during a team-bonding event held at work during regular work hours. We were playing a game where one person had to describe an object using gestures while others guessed. Based on the gestures, I guessed the object was a flask, but it turned out to be a sugar bowl. I commented that I was close because a flask could be used to store sugar. A colleague responded, "Maybe in the Bronx," referencing where I grew up. The comment relied on a negative stereotype and was framed as humor. I felt offended and responded by moving seats. No one directly confronted the comment at the time.

Respond to at least two colleagues' posts and use social psychology theory to explain what would lead someone to confront the person who made the offensive comment or joke, when doing so may likely make them the target of the joke teller's retaliation.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the social psychology theory and research. In addition to the Learning Resources, search the Walden Library and/or Internet for peer-reviewed articles to support your post and responses. Use proper APA format and citations, including those in the Learning Resources. Need Assignment Help?
