A best practice represents a transparent, feasible, and detailed method/technique that has been selected and retained (widespread adoption) because of its capacity (proven by research and experience) to consistently produce optimal results (as compared to other methods). Some examples include: Continuous learning and improvement, stabilizing requirements and scope at initial phases, defining clear roles and systems (processes), and making sure all key stakeholders will have skin in the game (related to risk management). In previous classes, some students presented items that had nothing to do with a best practice. Therefore, please make sure you possess an accurate understanding of the term “best practice” prior to conducting research (so you know what to look for).

For this week’s discussion question, please identify and describe 3-5 best practices in HR and 3-5 best practice in Change Management (total of 6-10 best practices). Under each best practice, briefly (1) describe and justify the technique/method, (2) offer relevant examples of application, and (3) explain how the practice might contribute to organizational effectiveness.

Some students simply Google “best practices in HR or change management,” use the information that they find in the first few search returns, which are usually blogs or non-scholarly sources, and present their findings. However, to complete this DQ properly, it is critical that you go beyond blogs and non-scholarly resources and “primarily” cite more reliable sources (e.g., scholarly articles/books). Instructions on how to find scholarly sources have been provided previously. You can also contact a CityU librarian to ask for their guidance. In addition, please be sure to properly follow APA rules and include a reference section at the end.
