  Process of pulmonary respiration

Process of pulmonary respiration:

Respiration comprises various processes that are listed below:

(A) Ventilation is the breathing in of air with more oxygen into the lungs (i.e., inspiration). It is obeyed by expulsion of air with more carbon-dioxide (i.e., expiration).

(B) Diffusion of oxygen from alveoli into the blood within the surrounding capillaries.

(C).Transport of oxygen by blood to the heart via the pulmonary vein.

(D). Distribution of oxygen by different arteries and their capillary network to all cells of the body. As the blood passes via tissue capillaries, it provides oxygen (and nutrients like glucose) to the body, tissues and picks up the waste products of the cellular respiration (i.e., Carbon-dioxide and water).

(E). Exchange of the oxygen and carbon-dioxide among the blood and body cells. Within body cells glucose and oxygen join in a complicated sequence of reactions that provide energy to power the cells. During this cellular respiration glucose is transformed to carbon-dioxide and water (Enzymatic oxidation).

(F). Transporting blood with carbon-dioxide. Carbon-dioxide is carried back in the blood to the heart then to the lungs where it diffuses into the alveoli and is breathed out of the body (i.e., External respiration).

(G) Exchanging of carbon-dioxide with oxygen at alveolar surface.

(H) Ending of air with carbon-dioxide from the lungs.
