Diabetes Mellitus:

The term ‘diabetes’ in Greek means ‘syphon’ or ‘running through’. This word explains the enormity of urinary volume excreted by people suffering from the above disease. The type I is less ordinary. It is due to the net or near entire destruction of the pancreatic β cells.

Type II is due to the insulin resistance. The insulin target cells do not respond generally to the circulating insulin. This might outcome due to obesity, over-eating and lack of exercise. The insulin hypo-responsiveness can be corrected when the person decreases his or her caloric intake. Therefore dietary control without any other therapy is often adequate to remove the elevated blood glucose level of type II diabetics. An exercise program is also helpful, as it will help to raise the number of insulin receptors.
