Nuclear reaction

Nuclear reaction:

A nuclear reaction is semantically the process in which two nuclei, or else a nucleus of an atom and a subatomic particle (like a proton, neutron, or high energy electron) from exterior the atom, collide to generate one or more nuclides which are distinct from the nuclide(s) which began the process. Therefore, a nuclear reaction should cause a transformation of at least one nuclide to the other. When a nucleus interacts with other nucleus or particle and they then separate without modifying the nature of any nuclide, the procedure is simply termed to as type of nuclear scattering, instead of a nuclear reaction.

Conditions for nuclear reaction:

When two nuclei are enclosed by electrons, as they are under ordinary situations on earth, it is not possible for a nuclear reaction to take place. This is since the electron clouds of the two nuclei repel each other as electrons all have negative electric charge. Two atoms may "bounce off" each other or might hold altogether to form a molecule, though in either situation the nuclei stay separated by a distance of around 10-10 m. As the nuclear force only reaches a distance of around 10-15 m, neither nucleus can be influenced by another.
