Bohr’s quantum condition: The condition for stationary states:

The circumference of the round orbit of the electron must be an integral multiple of the wavelength of de-Broglie wave, or else the wave cannot be smoothly constant.

Energy of electron in an atom:

By applying Schrodinger wave equation to hydrogen atom, the energy of electron (i.e., En) was obtained as:

Here, n is the principal quantum number. This expression is similar as Bohr’s equation for energy of electron in a hydrogen atom.

Replacing the values of m, e and h in the above relation, we get:

Importance of negative electronic energy:

The energy of an electron at infinity is randomly supposed to be zero. This state is termed as zero-energy state. Whenever an electron moves and comes under the influence of nucleus, it does some work and utilizes its energy in this procedure.
