Introduction to Third 10 Faults By Observing Symptoms
1. PICTURE IS NOT IN CENTRE; SOUND OK
Not proper adjustments of centring magnets. Put a mirror in front of the TV receiver. Adjust centring magnets in the yoke section correctly to acquire correct centring of picture.
2. PINCUSHION EFFECT
Not proper adjustment of pincushion magnets. Put a mirror in front of the TV receiver. Adjust pincushion magnets in the yoke section correctly to trouble shoot this effect.
3. BARREL SHAPED PICTURE
Not proper adjustment of pincushion and ring magnets.
Put a mirror in front of the receiver. Adjust correctly the pincushion and ring magnets to trouble shoot this effect.
4. NECK SHADOW
If picture is displayed in round shape, it is termed as 'neck shadow' if the yoke in the neck of picture tube moves backwards in the direction of CRT board, this fault appears in the screen. Put a mirror in front of the receiver.
Move the yoke in the direction of the neck of the picture tube and tight the screw in the yoke.
5. TILTED PICTURE
In the neck of the picture tube if yoke is titled narrowly, this type of effect take place in the screen. Make it to be fitted accurately and tight the screw in the yoke.
6. PICTURE BEND IN CORNERS
Not proper adjustment of comer correction magnets. Adjust the comer correction magnets so as to trouble shoot it.
7. A BRIGHT SPOT IN THE CENTRE OF THE SCREEN
A bright spot in the centre of the screen is also termed as switch on spot. Usually, the wires connecting vertical and horizontal deflection coils might be disconnected.
Monitoring the wires correctly and then connect them to the particular deflection coils.
8. TOTAL SYNC. LOSS
If picture rolls both top to bottom and left to right, it is termed as 'total synchronize loss'
Fault is in synchronize, pulse separator circuit. Test the copper track of the composite video signal to the synchronized, separator circuit. Test the transistor, biasing resistors and if the defective is found, then replace it.
Resolver the dry joints.
9. NO RASTER (OR) NO LIGHT ON THE SCREEN; SOUND OK
First, detect that the filament whether glowing or not.
If it glows,
A. Test the voltage at GI and G2
B. Defective video output transistor and the biasing resistors of it
C. Nonexistence of supply volt to the cathode
D. CRT base is not correctly fitted to the picture tube.
E. Defective EHT rectifier TV 20
If filament does not glow, (Given the voltages at another electrodes are OK)
F. Test the Voltage 6.3 V AC at the filament
G. Test the continuity of the filament.
10. INSUFFICIENT BRIGHTNESS (OR) DARK PICTURE
A. Low voltages at GI and G2
B. Defective brightness Control
C. not proper fitting of CRT base
D. Defective Video output transistor and the biasing resistors of it
E. Dry soldering; copper print cut.
