Introduction to Communication Receivers
It is a unique kind of superhet receiver that receives code words. For that aim, it consists of Beat Frequency Oscillator.
It is also relies on the standard of super heterodyning. In it two dissimilar IF stages are employed. It is able of receiving 2 to 16 MHz range.
First RF signals and Local oscillator are mixed in the mixer and converted into 1.7 MHz like first IF. Such IF signal is amplified and feed to the second mixer stage.
A fixed frequency oscillator is the Second Oscillator. The frequency of it is 1.5 MHz, 1.7 MHz and 1.5 MHz is mixed in second mixer stage and the result; 200 KHz is acquired like constant second IF.
Beat Frequency Oscillator is positioned next to the second IF stage to obtain Morse code. It is a LC Hartley kind of Oscillator. AGC preserves the incoming signal strength like constant. For this reason, AGC amplifier and AGC detector stages are employed.
The AF signal is separated by detector and feds it to the Squelch circuit. Squelch circuit stops the noise while no input signal is received. Therefore, it is also supposed to be sound muting circuit.
AF signals are amplified through the AF amplifier and feed to the speaker. The AF signals are converted into sound by speaker.
