Zygomycotina:
Vegetative body haplophase. Asexual spores are non-motile spores in nature. Sexual reproduction occurs by the complete fusion of two multi-nucleate gametangia generating a zygospore. Since of this the fungi of the group zygomycetes are also termed as conjugation fungi. The cell wall is made up of chitosan and chitin. It comprises two groups. The general black, bread moulds Rhizopus and Mucor belong to this class. Rhizopus is a very general saprotroph identical in appearance to Mucor, however more widespread.
