Clean Life, Inc. (CLI) is a world-wide manufacturer of health and beauty products. CLI has a new product, Pure and Innocent Soap, that it is ready to roll out in the market and CLI expects that when the full roll out is complete, Pure and Innocent Soap will generate revenues of over $5B per year.
CLI plans to spend $100M on marketing planning and coordination alone in each of the next 5 years. CLI has chosen Place and Peyton (PP), a large advertising firm, to handle all of the marketing of Pure and Innocent Soap.
Bob Anderson is president of PP. He has chosen Zack Zealous as the lead manager of this new account. This is the first account that Zack has headed as manager, although his track record in his participation with other accounts has been outstanding.
You are the head of human resources for PP. Unknown to everyone at PP, Zack is a cocaine addict and has been enrolled in PP's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for the past 3 months. EAP's are completely confidential and you are the only person who knows of Zack's problem or involvement in the program.
The Pure and Innocent Soap account would be 10% of PP's yearly revenues and success with this account could catapult PP right to the top of the advertising world. PP is planning on hiring numerous other staffers to work with Zack on this account. Failure on the other hand could cause PP to go into a tailspin from which it might never recover.
