For some, music may simply be music or something they listen to for entertainment. But music is therapy for me. When I can't sleep, I listen to music. When I have a difficult day, I listen to music. Music is really therapeutic for me; it relieves my anxiety and calms me down. Gospel, dancehall, and reggae are the kinds of music that make me feel a certain way.
Gospel music
I've always wanted a better connection with God, and gospel music has played an important role in that. Gospel music has helped me create a deeper and more intimate relationship with God while also soothing my spirit. Gospel music has enabled me to be more vulnerable and honest. Gospel more taught me how to be a godly lady today. It influenced the woman I am today. Sometimes I listen to gospel music in the morning to set the tone and start my day. The gospel has had a good impact on my life, as seen by the growth of my spiritual connection with God. I am not flawless, but I do notice a difference in my behavior and how I respond to certain situations
Reggae
Reggae is one of my favorite genres of music. Growing up, I listened to and learned about reggae. I was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica (trench town), where one of Bob Marley's houses is located and some of his sons have grown. Reggae music has had a significant impact on my life because it taught me the importance of empowering others and being compassionate. It has also opened my eyes to the fact that money is not everything, as people praise, but in one of Bob Marley's interviews, he noted, "The richest is life." This phrase changed my life dramatically because it taught me how precious life is and how you should appreciate it; as long as you have life, you can do anything.
Dancehall
While the other genre of music gives me a very relaxing feeling and peace. Dancehall music gives me excitement, relating to the lyrics more and understanding that music is therapy . You can really express yourself in your music and influence other people. 450 a dancehall artist from Jamaica, he really influences my life because his music is very therapeutic and relate able. His music something gets me through day knowing I'm not the only one , going through some difficult times .
