Assignment:
To conclude the semester, each student will write a three - five-page paper based on a speech they attend and hear in-person during the semester. Examples include but are not limited to a sermon, a public address from a government official, a ceremonial speech given at a special occasion, a motivation speech given at a university forum, a eulogy given at a funeral, or any other speech that a student might hear and participate in. The Paper Must Include the Following:
- Who: Who was the speaker and their title
- What: What type of speech was given
- When: Date and time of the speech
- Where: Where the speech took place
- Why: Why was the speech given
- At least three things that the speaker did well
- At least three things that you believe the speaker needs to work on or could improve
- Refer to at least three concepts that were discussed in the textbook that the speaker did or used. You will need to cite the textbook and the page number of the concept
- At least three takeaways that you took away from the speech. This could be something they did that you want to incorporate in your next speech, or it could be an idea/perspective they shared.
- Attach a selfie of yourself at the speech to the end of the paper.
