Question: I believe voting for any 3rd party should not be considered wasting a vote. Voting should be for everyone who can and shouldn't exclude for the two parties. If people vote just to vote against the competing party then who is to say both parties aren't in their favor. Even when the 3rd party doesn't win it still brings attention to the public on their views to issues. This has helped issues such as women's suffrage and labor reforms as the ideas from 3rd parties were later adopted by the major parties. Neglected issues are taken from these parties and used to spread awareness. The only issue is that these parties don't get the recognition they deserve. Low funding , limited media coverage and the challenges from the electoral college make it difficult to compete. I feel that the parties know that they most likely wont win the presidency. But rather they are competing to express political concern and preferences while also influencing the public debate. So in that sense we really should considered third parties for how they shaped politics and highlighting issues that go unnoticed by the major parties. Tossing a vote in simply means you support a good cause and its great that you can have the option to do so. Do you agree? Be very very very brief. Need Assignment Help?
