Why victims of abuse develop unhealthy coping mechanisms

Problem: 50 word response to the following post: Children who are abused do not develop in a normal and healthy way, which leads to them growing up in a more vulnerable state than children who were not abused. Additionally, those who are victims of abuse often develop unhealthy coping mechanisms, such as drug and alcohol abuse. This can also cause the person to become vulnerable due to their altered state of mind, unsafe living conditions, etc. (Relyea & Ullman, 2017). Abusers generally go after those who are perceived as weak and vulnerable. Need Assignment Help?
