When a person is victimized, especially when they are young, the trauma can be stored in their body and their body remembers the trauma, even when the person may stuff it down and try not to remember what happened. When he/she goes on with their life and does not heal properly, they tend to make decisions that are unhealthy, and they repeat these unhealthy actions over and over again (Walker & Wamser-Nanney, 2022).
