Hello student The United States spends a huge portion of the gross domestic product and it is increasing by 5 percent or more each year. Compared to similar countries the United States spends way more money on healthcare. With this being said you would think the patient outcomes, live births, and life expectancy would be the highest. This could not be further from the truth. Where is the disconnect?
I think there are many modifiable factors in our lives that can really impact our health. Personally, I know I make bad choices with food and carry a lot of weight around my mid-section, which is one of the worst places. I know in order to be a good model for those I am working with; I have to make changes as well. As caregivers, we need to be examples for those we are caring for. If they see we are not doing what is necessary why would they put forth the effort? "
