When leading a group of involuntary participants such as adult clients (21 to 65), what are three unique behaviors that may hinder the progress in this type of group setting? As a group leader, how would you approach and respond to these behaviors? Need Assignment Help?
Classmates Response-
As a group leader, the counselor needs to approach those who are not compliant within the group. This behavior would most definitely hinder any progress. Resistance is a common behavior, which means that the group members might not want to participate in the activities. Lack of motion means they might lack motivation when participating in the group, and defensiveness means getting defensive when asked why they do not want to participate. There are a few things that the group leader can do to assist those individuals who are non-compliant behavior. (Corey & Corey, 2018). The leader's job is to facilitate a productive, respectful, and safe environment, which will lead the group to have a better understanding and behavior.
