Activity Problem: Healthcare Around the World
Finally, we are going to investigate healthcare systems around the world, and turn our attention to how other countries execute and mange their healthcare systems. This examination will help you compare and contrast Canada's system to the way other systems work.
Now, watch this 55 minute 2008 PBS documentary called, "Sick Around the World" (2008). This documentary compares various healthcare systems around the world and how they operate.

While watching the documentary, answer the following questions and submit to the Assignment folder.
a) After watching the documentary, choose the healthcare system that YOU feel is the best and state three reasons why. Be sure to include who takes on the gatekeeper role, what percentage of GDP is allocated for the provision of healthcare, what type of accountability for government spending on healthcare was shown and by whom, and what upstream approaches were being used and by whom?
b) What country was not examined in the documentary? Why do you think that was the case?
