Homework: Research Topic Selection
Overview
For this homework, choose an archaeological site that you will analyze for your Research Paper and submit it, as well as a tentative thesis statement for approval.
Review the Research Project Overview in the Syllabus section for an explanation of all components of the paper.
The following are the questions you will be asked to address later in the Research Paper:
o Discuss the social, political, and economic organizations of your chosen site.
o Does your site/culture have a written language?
o Discuss the form of communication.
o What are the belief systems of your site/culture?
o Describe specific artifacts or ecofacts associated with your site/culture.
o Conclude with your analysis, based on your archaeological evidence, of why and how this culture rose and fell.
Instructions
Choose an archaeological site and include the name of the site and the following information in a brief summary.
o Location, age, and significance (cultural and/or historical)
o Distinctive features (if any)
o Describe your interest in researching this topic.
o Define a thesis statement that represents the argument for your topic of interest. Think of it as the how or why related to your topic.
Format your homework according to the following formatting requirements:
o The answer should be typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.
o The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
o Also include a reference page. The Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
