Homework: Formal Analysis
Essential question
o How do images, combinations of images, or images and sounds, etc.-in art, cinema, intermedia, and/or social media-produce meaning and/or affect our lived reality?
Guidelines
i. Refer to artists by their full name the first time you mention them (i.e. Jenn Nkiru is an artist and director...), then last name thereafter (In an interview, Nkiru states...).
ii. Italicize the titles of artworks and put their dates in parentheses (unless you are already incorporating this information into your writing in another way).
Evaluation
We will evaluate your project based on how well it demonstrates your ability to:
i. Analyze moving images, including their social and/or political context (incl. connections to critical discourse)
ii. Interpret and apply academic texts in forming arguments/analysis
iii. Analyze and form arguments with evidence
iv. Demonstrate understanding of filmic concepts (e.g. montage)
v. Provide accurate information (all relevant names, dates, titles, etc. must be correct)

Format your homework according to the following formatting requirements:
i) The answer should be typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.
ii) The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
iii) Also include a reference page. The Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
