Write a  150 word answer to the following question  in apa format with in-text citations and references.

Original Question: Research an international servant leader or international servant leadership organization to examine the similarities and differences in the way servant leadership is executed in Western culture and Christianity when compared with other cultures and religions. Summarize the similarities and differences you discovered and discuss which principles of servant leadership you think are universal, regardless of religious and cultural differences. Provide examples to support your opinions.

One international organization I found that leads with servant leadership is Nuru, Nuru is an organization that is committed to servant leadership. This organization believes in, changing the poverty cycle through listening to the needs and the thoughts and ideas of the people who live in poverty everyday (Nuru, n.d.). Listening is one of the characteristics of great servant leadership. The organization focuses on the followers of the community. The servant leaders work through a holistic, sustainable and scalable approach to defeating poverty (Nuru, n.d.). The following is the values of the Nuru organization;

"We believe in the power of servant leadership, which means: humbly putting the needs of others first and serving oneself last; treating others with authentic respect-regardless of his or her present socioeconomic status or station in life-living in and integrating into the communities we serve; admitting when we are wrong; and listening, learning, and building solutions together with those we serve" (Nuru, n.d.).

This statement made in the values of the Nuru organization can be utilized with any organization regardless of culture, religion or race. This is the similarity you will find with all servant leadership organizations. From this statement is the foundation of the servant leaders all over the world.

However one difference I found was the servant leaders of Nuru focus on leadership sustainability, by realizing servant leaders can bring greater results if they bring out the best in the followers (Nuru, n.d.). The leadership sustainability continues to bring the focus and does not allow leaders to stray from the servant leadership style. Other organizations also state servant leadership as the style however I think a difference of this organization is the focus of sustaining the servant leadership model.
