"Case 52: Spread Too Thin. Kimiko is a BCBA supervising several Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs) and Registered Behavior Therapists (RBTs) working toward accruing experience hours to take their BCBA exam. Kimiko and her agency are very passionate about supporting the growth of ABA and follow a strong policy of promoting and hiring from within the agency as much as possible.
As a result, many of the direct staff members have inquired about joining ABA-based graduate programs and gaining supervision from Kimiko. While Kimiko wants to support her staff, she is having trouble dividing her time between providing supervision and maintaining her caseload. Kimiko brought up her concerns with the agency's clinical director, who assured her that as more of the staff become certified themselves, they will be able to take on more cases and relieve some of Kimiko's clinical responsibilities. Though this may prove to be helpful in the future, Kimiko is currently struggling to appropriately dedicate her time to her required tasks." [p. 141; Sush, D., & Najdowski, A. C. (2019).
