Critical writing assignment will be evaluated on two levels:
(1) form correctness and
(2) content quality.
1) The Inferno:
Option 1: Defend or refute the following claim, “Dante believes in a universe (presumably his own, but at least the one he has created in The Inferno) where freewill is the ultimate guiding force for sentient life. As a result, all sentient beings have the choice to follow God’s teachings and accept his love, or to go against them and deny his love, which ultimately decides the eternal residence of their soul: Heaven in the case of the former and Hell in the case of the latter.”
A) Your evidence in support or opposition to this claim must be relevant.
- Present and discuss at least two specific examples that support your position.
B) The claim should be explained and clearly presented (you can simply restate it word-for-word at the appropriate point in your essay).
C) The essay overall should be clear, concise, and grammatically correct.
