Task:

Based on the case study write an essay that answers the following questions:

1. Contrast and critically analyse the change processes in the Arts faculty and the faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Environment Sciences at Super Star University.

While answering the question, you should identify core elements (e.g. leadership style, gender differences, change intervention tools, staff engagement and communication process and other elements etc.) of the change process in each of the faculties. How are the elements of the change process different in different faculties? You should use academic references to support your arguments while contrasting and critically analysing the change processes in all the faculties.

2. What are the major sources of resistance to change at the faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Sciences? How would you overcome faculty staff resistance to change?

You may relate the answers to table 4.1 and 4.2 (pages 93-96 of the textbook, chapter 4) and further integration of the case context, academic references is necessary. For the second part of the question, please check pages 100-121 of the textbook, chapter 4. You should justify how you would recommend overcoming faculty staff resistance to change through a comprehensive change program (you are required to search in academic journals, other academic references for change management programs for the organisational context in question).

3. If you were an executive faculty dean at the Super Star University, how would you approach the change process in your faculty in response to the new university strategic directions with a view to managing resistance to change?

You are advised to use theories, models and approaches on how leaders and managers should approach the change process in various strategic contexts. Apart from the textbook chapters 3, 4 and 7, please check online databases for Journal articles and other academic references which highlight how leadership and the change management process works in organisational contexts. You should further integrate the leadership theories, case context and academic references to build up your arguments.

REQUREMENTS:

* The assignment should be a properly constructed academic/ argumentative essay. It should contain an effective introduction, discussion body (answering the questions) and conclusion.

* The assignment should contain a coherent, but necessarily restricted review of the academic literature on the organisational leadership during change management, change process, and resistance to change management topics in question. The literature review should be integrated into the assignment, not a separate section

* You will be expected to present information and evidence from, and cite, at least fifteen (15) relevant peer-reviewed journals or other academic references (books, book chapters etc.)
