Problem
Provide an example of two strongly contrasting gender performances by women (or by men), both of which American culture defines as fully acceptable and following gender rules adequately, but which seem to be the reverse of each other. Explain how such divergent roles can exist if there are gender rules that people are following. First, explain the kinds of challenges that women and men with physical disabilities face in designing strategies with which to do gender. Make sure to address whether there are strategies that are differently available to women and men, especially women and men of different class statuses. Then, pick one intersectional situation to put in the center and compare the strategies of disabled people with at least four different life situations (e.g., class status, urban or rural location, family structures, and race) to this "reference person."
