Problem:
Read Kouzes and Posner's Leadership Challenge. This paper is an opportunity to reflect on your leadership strengths and areas of improvement as indicated by asking yourself, "What did I do when I was at my personal best as a leader?", and to provide concrete methods for you to enhance your leadership skills. It is expected that you tie in the readings/videos from this week or from the other weeks. When doing so, please italicize specific concepts or terms used and cite the reading or website link (2 or more cites). Given that I am familiar with all references from this course you can simply put the title of the reading or website in parentheses to cite. respond in paragraphs.
As you answer, first provide a brief introductory paragraph relating to What did I do when I was at my personal best.
Divide your response into five sections and label using the five dimensions of the Leadership Challenge: Challenging the Process, Inspiring a Shared Vision, Enabling Others to Act, Modeling the Way, and Encouraging the Heart.
For each dimension, discuss your areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. For example, how does the way you typically handle conflict add or detract from your ability to challenge the process? Feel free to provide examples from your work experiences as to your strengths and identified opportunities for development.
The next section of your paper should have the subheading "Perceptions of Others". Ask two individuals you trust to tell you about a time when you were at your best. Indicate who shared their feedback with you. The individuals may be a parent, spouse, sibling, friend, boss, coworker, or former colleague. Tell how their feedback fits with your narrative of your strengths. Was there anything surprising? Why?
The next section of your paper should be labeled "Action Planning". Select one dimension of the Leadership Challenge dimensions in which you want to improve. Discuss why you selected this dimension and describe actions steps to take that you think would help further develop your leadership skills on this dimension.
